Wedding: Mirhanda & MB

From the couple: For most of our (admittedly short) engagement, we thought we were going to elope. Large gatherings are not really our thing, and we would much rather spend the day reading in a tea room. Ultimately, though, all 6 of our Southern parents got involved, and the rest is history.

In the end, our theme became “It’s Not a Wedding Without _______.” In place of gifts, our guests brought the one thing they thought was essential for any wedding to have. By the end of the day, we had flowers, dresses, cake, a photographer, and a trip to Asheville. One of our friends even brought herself as our last-minute officiant (Thanks, Mo!).

The day was wonderful, and we joke that we must be the only couple to be surprised by their own wedding!

Flashback Friday: Kelsey & Meghan

While we’re on vacation this month, the Bicycle Built for Two team (and friends!) are revisiting some of our all-time favorite weddings!

From Maggie:

Kelsey and Meghan’s Minnesota wedding is a DIY dreamboat, from the handmade dress (and atttendants’ dresses!!), invitation-assembling crafternoons, and centerpieces built by Kelsey’s uncle!

As a recent grad school graduate, I can more than sympathize with the desire to have a fabulous wedding that doesn’t involve spending tens of thousands of dollars, and Kelsey and Meghan did just that, with a strict budget of $6,000 and lots of help from friends and family.

As they put it, “At the end of the day, and after all the heart-ache, we learned that the definition and point of marriage is not only about what the couple mean to each other, but what the couple’s community mean to them,” and that’s just what this wedding demonstrates!

Flashback Friday: Tracy & Danielle

While we’re on vacation this month, the Bicycle Built for Two team (and friends!) are revisiting some of our all-time favorite weddings!

From Maggie:

If you ask me, Tracy & Danielle’s intimate queer wedding is the perfect manifestation of the strength and community we’ve all needed a little bit more of over the past eight months. With just 52 days of planning and a budget of $1,500, they put together an event that I love for its low-maintenance authenticity. Who couldn’t adore the hand-lettered signs and DIY details—not to mention the obvious love that radiates from these photos?

Bonus: the food! Judging from the photos, Tracy & Danielle’s guests enjoyed a baked potato bar, a s’more station, and some delicious-looking caramel apple pies that I would more than be happy to dig into.
