Wedding: Jennifer and Tylette

From Amy: Jen and Ty came from New York to celebrate their union in front of family in friends on the west coast. During their planning, same sex marriage became legal in NY, but they carried on with their plans. A little rain, ok a lot of rain, didn’t dampen this fabulous day! Everyone was in such great spirits just to celebrate two wonderful and beautiful ladies! Both of them were escorted to the altar by their mothers.

And after returning home to New York they made it officially official in their own state!

Engagement Shoot: Zirka & Kaitlyn

From Kaitlyn: Four years ago, Zirka and I met and began dating while in college. It all started with a miscommunication: I was telling Zirka how much I hated a certain type of shot so naturally she turned around and ordered 8 of that very shot… just for the two of us. Go big or go home I guess. About three years and seven months ago, I knew that I loved Zirka and wanted this amazing thing we had to last. Two and a half years ago, we moved to Atlanta together to start graduate school and the next chapter of our lives. Six months ago, I asked her if she would do me the honor of being my wife (or at least that’s what I had planned to say… it’s all a blur now and I’m not entirely sure I said anything at all). Now, we are eight months away from our wedding, living in a home that we now own, looking forward to the adventures the rest of our lives together will bring. We are so happy and blessed to be where we are and can’t wait for our wedding, 7/27/13, to drink and dance the night away with our amazing and supportive family and friends.

Wedding: Dawn & Jennifer

From Jennifer: On December 31st, amidst a discussion over whether we should stay home or go out for New Years, I gave in and told Dawn if we were going out I had something she might want to wear. I got down on one knee and asked her to be my wife. She said yes! With her engagement ring shining brightly and permanent smiles affixed to our faces we headed out to welcome in a new year and a new chapter of our lives.

The planning began almost immediately and we decided to theme our wedding around the ring finger anchor tattoos we had done in Provincetown the previous year. Luckily summer 2012 was quite nautical and anchor anything was easy to come by. Our wedding ceremony and reception took place on September 8th, 2012 at a private residence in Provincetown, Massachusetts. We traveled to Provincetown from our home in Denver to legally commit our lives to one another, and it was wonderful. Planning an over 2,000 miles from our venue was a challenge, but with the help of family, friends and amazing vendors we did planned the perfect wedding weekend.

We flew in one day before our wedding and while we saw a judge and obtained permission to marry the next day our families were at our wedding venue meeting for the first time. They hung lights, folded napkins and polished glasses like a well seasoned team. That night our parents threw a welcome party so our families and out-of-town guests could get to know one another while eating, drinking margaritas and dancing.

The next day at 5 in the evening and we lined up our wedding party to walk down the aisle. We were escorted by both our mothers and fathers and preceded by our beautiful flower girl, and niece, Naia, siblings and closest friends. Our officiant had prepared a traditional yet personalized ceremony which included a reading of our favorite poem i carry your heart with me by E.E. Cummings. We were announced legally wed and the party began. Guests sipped cape codders and wine on the deck of our venue while the wedding party took pictures. We all decided it was too windy to take pictures on the beach, so we ran across the street where we spotted a vintage teal GMC truck and a garage painted with an Andy Warhol-esqe portrait of Marilyn Monroe on the doors.

Once inside our brother, Andrew announced us with amazing speech and we danced to our band’s cover of Ingrid Michaelson’s “The Way that I Am.” We then enjoyed a New England style clam bake dinner with clam chowder, lobsters, steamers, linguicia, and all the fixings- delicious. After that everyone got wild dancing well into the morning. The next day we held a brunch at an oceanfront bar and we all nursed hangovers, laughed over last night’s antics and shared our love. It was the perfect closing to the most amazing weekend of our lives. Our wonderful family made our dream day a reality we had each other.

Wedding: Jamie & Tami

Jamie contacted me when she and Tami were planning their legal ceremony in New York City to ask if I would be willing to join them at the Office of the City Clerk. I was so honored to be included.  Along with Jamie’s cousin and Angela, I witnessed their momentous event.

And it was awesome.

When you strip a wedding ceremony down to what it is all about – committing your life to another – and you take away all the ornamentation of a wedding (I may or may not have a tendency of being distracted by the guests, the dress(es), the flowers, the location) your heart is completely obliterated by THE LOVE.

Jamie and Tami, thank you for allowing us to witness what is truly a very special relationship.

Ignore the terrible pictures taken by me (including Angela’s arm in the wedding kiss).

Wedding: Brooke and Monica

From Monica: I met Brooke when I was her cosmetology instructor in beauty school when we lived in Milwaukee WI. I immediately knew I was in trouble, as I fell in love.

We got engaged quickly and after a year we moved to Los Angeles. We finally set a date for our wedding a year and a half after moving to LA and started planning the most incredible experience of our lives. Not only was the wedding nothing less than perfect, the planning of our big day was amazing too. We decided that the wedding was to be very DIY and completely personal so our guests could share in our love but see and enjoy a wedding so very different than they had experienced. We wanted specialty touches and people to leave remembering our day!

The style we envisioned was very feminine and romantic. The day felt like this… Great Gatsby and Midsummers Night Dream crossed with a vintage yet modern feel. Soft lighting from candles, hundreds of crystals hanging in birch trees, mason jars, paper lanterns, feathers, and pale pink flowers. We released Chinese Lanterns into the sky after dark and danced our first dance with sparklers surrounding us. For our guests we had a warm fire, karaoke, a full dessert table with vintage candies-to-go, signature drinks including Popsicle Champagne Floats, Pink Grapefruit Margaritas and Upside Down Pineapple Wedding Cake.

When I look back on that day, it was the best day of my life. It was an unforgettable day with our families and friends. But even better than that was getting to have Brooke become my wife. I wish I could do it all again!

Wedding: Crissy & Erin

From Kristin La Voie: Erin and Crissy’s beautiful Chicago wedding was AMAZING! We started with incredible first look photos outside the MileNorth, and popped into their wine cellar for a couple shots before tour hitting parks and the lakefront throughout the city. Their incredible ceremony and reception took place at the MileNorth hotel rooftop, C-View, which is the highest rooftop bar in the city. IT WAS CHILLY! But you never would notice in these heartwarming photos! They opted for a Post-Wedding session “Mrs & Mrs” so they could include their beautiful baby Sophia with her Mommies. The weather was so opposite; sunshiny and warm! It was a perfect end to their October nuptials!
