From Jane, the brides’ photographer: Brittany and Erica first met in May 2014. Brittany swept Erica off her feet when she sent her a message on her online dating profile about macaroni and cheese. When the two met in person at Ubon Thai restaurant in Wilmington, Delaware, they hit it off right away.
On September 4, 2015, in Bethany Beach, Delaware—just a few miles down the coast from where they shared their second date—Brittany proposed to Erica. Showing off her creative side, Brittany created a homemade picture book that told their love story and Erica read it as they enjoyed a picnic. A little over a year later, they are thrilled to be celebrating the start of this next chapter with beloved family and friends!
Erica and Britt are a couple full of joy and who bring everyone together in any setting. Their wedding was no exception. There wedding was aboard a boat that took the couple from engaged to married to dancing in the mist of a beautiful nighttime cruise!

From Nicki: Sandy and I met online in 2004. We were both fresh out of relationships and not looking for anything serious. We dated on and off for about 2 years, before splitting up and living separate lives. We kept in touch over the years, but both dated other people. In June 2012, Sandy got up the nerve to profess her love for me and we have been together ever since. We were engaged November 2012, married April 2014, and welcomed our daughter April 2015. I feel like I am living a fairytale everyday.

From Johanna: Alex and I met through our college’s string ensemble back in 2011 and we haven’t been able to keep our eyes off of each other since! I proposed to Alex (wearing the hat) in December at a small christmas tree farm in Connecticut, we were surrounded by our closest friends and family- it was magical! Our engagement photos were taken by Ready Freddie Studios on a beautiful, and cold (take notice of our ears and noses) afternoon in Bridgewater, CT. Ivanna, our photographer, was so great to work with! She even brought props for us to use! I can not thank Ivanna enough for the beautiful work she did in capturing such a special moment in Alex’s and my life.

Two in one!! =)
From the ladies: It all began in 2004 at Sam Houston State University, and with the help of mutual friends a relationship blossomed in 2006.
August 21st, 2009 we took a new level of commitment when we took our first vacation together to Cozumel. In March 2011 we took another big step and got engaged while at the rodeo and listening to our song “God Bless the Broken Road”. We then decided to put wedding planning aside to save for our first home which we closed on in May of 2012 in Houston, TX. Since it was finally time to tie the knot and with new laws in place we decided to pick a date! Therefore, we are ready to share our commitment ceremony with family, friends, and of course our pugs!

From Renee: We live in Florida, a state that has decided to add a constitutional amendment banning same sex marriage. We wanted to make our marriage legal in a state that allowed it and decided that state would be Connecticut (because they have no waiting period). We have 4 children between us, and lots of friends and family who would have loved to share the day with us, but, because we could not ask them all to fly to CT, we chose to have a very simple ceremony with just the two of us and our officiant (and photographer), Mary Pugh.
We were married on Friday the 13th, 6 years to the day that we met. The ceremony was held at Cherry Lawn Park in Darien, CT. It was a short ceremony. Amy couldn’t last through anything lengthy, she is a bit squishy and had a hard time holding back tears!
We are now planning for our reception to be held at our home in Florida. That will allow us to share our union with friends and family. Our wedding day was the beginning of the next chapter. We have been through struggle and illness and the love we share has helped us make it through, stronger and more committed.
Happy one week wedding anniversary Amy and Renee!

Amanda from Boro Creative Visions submitted Ariel and Michelle’s queer Connecticut wedding. In nearly all of the 75 or so pictures that I looked at, they are constantly kissing, touching and looking at each other loving. I fell in love with them instantly. No photo gimmicks, no poses and no self-conscious awareness. To quote Amanda: Love. Is. Beautiful.
PS. Amanda is based in NH but will travel all over New England to shoot your wedding. And she is super sweet.
For their same-sex wedding, Shannon and Helen chose the simplicity of their quiet country home in northern Connecticut. Initially planning an indoor event since the weather was still cold that first week in April, they were blessed by a rare 74 degree day, and quickly moved it outdoors. What a beautiful way to start their life together!
