Wedding: Sarah & Kelly

From Sarah: Kelly and I met four and a half years ago, and we were the quintessential “Uhaul” couple. Let’s just say, our first date lasted four days! We feel incredibly fortunate to have experienced the wedding of our dreams, surrounded by our friends and family in the most gorgeous place where I grew up. The entire weekend was perfect; we wanted everything to be low-key and comfortable. We frequently host people in our home and wanted to capture that feeling of hospitality. We were very purposeful in everything we chose to do (and all the wedding “rules” we chose not to follow!). I also grew up Jewish, and tradition is very important to both Kelly and me, so we wrote the entire ceremony together, adapting the customs to make it our own. It means the world to us that we had the opportunity to celebrate our love with such an amazingly supportive community.

Wedding: Erin & Joy

From Jay, Erin & Joy’s photographer: Erin and Joy are both nurses, and met in Asheville, NC, where they used to live. They were introduced by a colleague and had been together since. They even relocated to Nashville together to continue their careers and life journey! They have two lovely children together, a boy and a girl, both of whom were integral part of their day—as you are about to see. It was a lovely fun-filled wedding at The Red House in Franklin, TN, a rock-and-roll-themed historic house with a modern feel.

Wedding: Jen & Beth

We found today’s wedding through Beth’s personal blog, The Babbling Blonde—and we couldn’t be happier! After you’ve ready Beth & Jen’s story and scrolled through the gorgeous photos below, make your next step Beth’s site, where you can read Beth’s “Tales of a Bisexual Bride,” as well as other stories from Beth and Jen’s wedding planning experience!

Now, here’s their story: Jen and Beth met in the early spring of 2014 when they began working at the same company. After a fast friendship made them platonic companions for the next year, both of them finally wised up to the fact that there was something more to the relationship. They began dating in the summer of 2015, and Jen proposed at Konzelmann winery among the waters of Niagara Falls in Canada in July of 2016.

As a super fan of the Dave Matthews Band, Beth had previously bribed Jen to chase the band around to quite a few concerts over the years, including one in Charlottesville, Virginia. While they were in town for the show that same summer, they attended a wine tasting at Blenheim Vineyards, the local winery owned by Dave. Beth and Jen fell in love with the atmosphere and decided to make it their wedding venue.

After several visits to the winery and a few months of hectic planning, the two tied the knot on April 22, 2017. The skies couldn’t have been darker, and the rain couldn’t have been steadier, but everything was perfect under the tent outside by the sprawling vineyard. The cozy ceremony took place in the same space as the reception with a few reading from close friends, a gift and sand ceremony with Jen’s  5-year-old daughter, Mia, and an ode to the elements.

Once they made it official, Beth, Jen, and Mia ate and danced the night away with their closest family and friends. The first dance was to Ellie Goulding’s “Love Me Like You Do”, and they finished the night out in rambunctious style with Katy Perry’s “I Kissed A Girl”. The food was delicious, the cake was to die for, and guests also enjoyed a homestyle cookie table supplied by Beth’s family, which is a Pittsburgh and West Virginia wedding staple.

The wedding made official what everyone already knew: a little family of two became #McDpartyof3, finally legally.

Wedding: Emma & Katie

Emma and Katie’s Georgia wedding was our kind of day: featuring some top-notch dancing, donuts, AND cake. Watch their video here, and be prepared to cry. Their vows are pretty amazing. As for their message on the blog, they kept it simple.

From the bride & broom: It was the best day of our lives and the most fun we’ve ever had (and we have a lot of fun)!

Wedding: Bonnie & Ali

From Jay, Bonnie & Ali’s photographer: I was honored to photograph this lovely intimate wedding in Nashville, TN for these 2 amazing ladies! They came to me Thanksgiving week looking to bump their wedding up to New Year’s Eve 2016, being unsure about the Trump administration. Our wonderful Nashville mayor, Megan Barry, agreed to officiate the wedding at relatively short notice at her home—she’s been a great ally for the LGBT community. Ali hired a car through Matchless Transportation, a 1961 Jaguar to transport them to the mayor’s house from their first look spot… then the guest ceremony and reception took place at their friend’s larger home in East Nashville. The day was full of people, laughs, and nice intimate feel. They hired a personal chef crew and had me lurk in the shadows to document the event.

Wedding: Kaysey & Jacque

From Kaysey: Jacque and I married on a beautiful autumn day in Portland at Holocene, a local club/venue that hosts many queer dance parties that we have enjoyed over the years. Out friends and family did a brilliant job decorating and bringing the warm colors of autumn into the room. My little brother sang an original song as we walked down the aisle. Our best friend Mark married us, and we all nervously giggled together. We served tacos and cupcakes and spent the night dancing to our favorite songs. It was the most joyful room I have ever been in. My advice: make the ceremony your own. If you want to be political, poetic, spiritual, religious, traditional, radical—do it! We chose an excerpt from the Obergefell v. Hodges Supreme Court decision during our ceremony, and there wasn’t a dry eye in the place. I’m so grateful to be married to this strong, sensitive, beautiful best friend of mine!
