Fresh, New: A Sweet & Sassy Book for Brides

If you’re reading this blog, chances are you’ll agree with us when we say that the world could always use more LGBTQ+ wedding-planning resources, so today, we’re delighted to introduce you to another new wedding book: Laura Lee Abby’s 2Brides 2Be: A Same-Sex Guide for the Modern Bride, which came out at the beginning of April.

2Brides 2Be is organized chronologically—Laura Leigh devotes the first three parts to pre-wedding goodness like engagement parties, registries, showers, and bachelorette parties, while parts four and five cover all aspects of the wedding itself, from the rehearsal dinner to the honeymoon. Throughout, the book combines practical advice with stories from Laura Lee’s own experience planning her wedding to her wife Sam, making for a thoroughly enjoyable read that’s accentuated by Laura Lee’s sassy sense of humor.

As the title suggests, this book centers on the experience of couples planning two-bride weddings—and though that doesn’t necessarily mean two dresses (or any dresses), it does mean “she” pronouns, and, of course, the word “bride.” If that is you and your partner, Laura Lee has plenty of wisdom to impart, from sections on coming out in advance of the wedding and dealing with less-than-supportive family members to seeking out vendors and navigating both micro- and more-than-micro aggressions you may encounter as part of the planning process.

There’s another whole section on what Laura Lee says is one of the “most-asked” questions on her site: who walks down the aisle first—and another couple of pages devoted to last names, where Laura Lee explains her and Sam’s decision to take Sam’s middle name as their surname. Indeed, if you’re a bride marrying another bride and you have wedding-planning questions, chances are that Laura Lee has at least begun to answer them here, in a no-nonsense and upbeat manner that will buoy you along as your big day approaches.

And that’s not even to mention the gorgeous book design— 2Brides 2Be is a pretty little thing, with peach text boxes and simple, stylish illustrations that add variety to each page. If you’re looking for a beautiful, bride-centric wedding planning book, this one should be a welcome addition to your library!

You can learn more about the book here—and if you’re not already a regular reader of Laura Lee’s website 2Brides2Be, head on over for more real wedding inspiration!
