Are you the next editor of A Bicycle Built for Two?

Dearest readers,

Due to some new developments that Ashley and I excited to share with you over the course of the next couple of weeks, we’re looking for a few enthusiastic lovers of LBTQ+ weddings to join the A Bicycle Built for Two team!

katie & minya

What We’re Looking For:

  • an individual with their own computer and internet access, who can devote between 5 and 10 hours a week to ABBFT-related duties
  • a responsible and organized calendar-maker, e-mail-sender, and deadline-meeter, who will help keep us up and running
  • a strong writer who will draft warm and witty posts
  • a creative thinker with ideas about how we can continue to improve the site
  • an individual committed to fostering a radically inclusive, forward-thinking queer community that celebrates trans and non-binary folks, people of color, people with disabilities, and many more
  • a reasonably tech-savvy human, with a basic familiarity with Wordpress, Google Apps, and social media like Facebook, Tumblr, Pinterest, and Instagram (and/or the desire to learn!)

What We Can Offer:

  • experience: in this position, you will become a master of managing submissions, creating posts, and helping manage our social media accounts—and if you impress us, we will sing your praises to other editors, future employers, and the world at large.
  • flexibility: we’re excited about tailoring this position to your personal goals/strengths/desires, so if there is something you’re particularly into, let us know!
  • potential for growth: longterm, we’re looking for a super-organized, reliable, and inclusivity-minded individual to take over the blog when we step down from our editorial roles in 2018.
  • the warm and fuzzy feeling of supporting celebrating love and promoting queer visibility!

If you’re interested, drop us a line via the Contact Us page, and we can get a conversation started. No need to include a formal resume or cover letter, but the more you can tell us about your interests and experiences, the better informed we’ll be!

Do I have to have planned a LBTQ+ wedding? Definitely not! For this position, enthusiasm is more important that wedding-related expertise!

Can I quit my day job? Unfortunately, due to our limited resources, this is currently a volunteer-only position.

I just discovered this amazing blog! Can I still apply? Of course you can! Just make sure you’ve familiarized yourself with our mission and style before you send that magic email.

In related news, we also wanted to take the opportunity to thank our fearless assistant editor Taylor for all the work she’s done for the blog in the last year. We’ll miss her Tumblr prowess, but we were thrilled to learn she’s headed to graduate school in the fall, where she’ll be continuing to work to make the world a better place for our queer community (and everyone else)! Thank you, Taylor!
