From the lovely couple: Shortly after Emily proposed, we started our adventure in wedding planning. We knew early on that we wanted it to be in August in Provincetown, where we’ve shared many memories in my family’s home. Then came the daunting task of planning a home wedding, where we quickly enlisted the help of event planner Bernadette Smith of 14 Stories. We worked together to create a wedding that was romantic, classic, and had a hint of vintage. The ceremony was held at the Pilgrim Monument, which provided sweeping views of the harbor. Family is important to both of us, so my step-mother performed the ceremony and we both had our brothers in the wedding party. Guests then took a trolley to the reception, while Emily and I paraded through town on a pedicab. We wanted everyone to feel like they had been invited to our house for the most amazing dinner party. So we set up the reception like one long dinner table. Having good food was also important to us. We had a series of small courses to make it a special meal that guest wouldn’t forget. Mortified by the idea of the garter toss, we skipped all of the traditional reception events and left more time for dancing and cake. In the end, the best detail was being out on what feels like the end of earth, surrounded by such love and support. It was indeed the best day ever!
