Elopement: Latrice & Maurita

From Latrice: Rita and I met on MySpace in 2006 after months of cyber-stalking and chatting. We have been happily raising our son, Rodney, who was constantly asking us when were we going to get married. There was no “official” proposal or engagement. We got the amazing news that DOMA had been struck down in the Supreme Court and basically turned to each other and said, “Let’s Do It!” Inspired by a blog I ran across on this website, Rita and I decided to elope in New York City. My life between July and October was dedicated to planning an intimate ceremony for us to exchange vows and a 9th Birthday Celebration for Rodney aboard the Disney Cruise ship the Dream. Our ceremony consisted of a small group of close family and friends gathered in Shakespeare Garden in Central Park. Rita is the love of my life and I could not have imagined a more perfect day for us. I married my best friend, my lover, my soul mate and the most amazing woman ever. We are still enjoying newlywed bliss and just wanted to share our story with you all!
