Engagement Shoot: Meg & Tara

From Kathryn Palmateer: Meg & Tara were amazing. A little bit shy, a wee bit awkward in front of the camera, silliness was all around. And look what we captured…such love.

The proposal: At the beginning of Hillside Festival this July, we drove out to Guelph Lake to register for our camp site. Our friend (Tara’s  best “man”) was in on the surprise to come, and came prepared with her camera to capture the moment. We pulled up, cranked the Be Good Tanyas, and set to work putting up our tent. As the final poles went up, I glanced in and hanging from the roof of the tent on a long blue ribbon was her engagement ring (right where I put it a few days earlier). I was literally SHAKING with anticipation, throwing glances at Jess, our friend/photographer who had set her tent up at lightening speed to be ready for the action. I crawled in the tent….and waited….and waited….Tara crawled in with me, smiling, chatting away, NOT noticing the ring….and I waited….and waited…. Finally, because I thought I might burst, I pointed at the ring and said “Hey, what’s THAT?”

I pulled the ring off the ribbon, told her she was my family, and asked her to be my wife.
