From Laure: There are so few images out there of {queer} weddings like the one we wanted to have, and although I know they’re happening all over, it is so incredibly empowering to see them. I think these images, while powerful for us, can also be powerful tools for open-minded and progressive parents who are teaching their children about families. Recently one of my bridesmaid’s heterosexual family members emailed me to tell me that they’re showing our same-sex wedding pictures to their children to teach them about different kinds of weddings and family structures. It was something that had never crossed my mind.
Natasha and I met working in a restaurant in center city Philadelphia and completely fell in love. We got married three and a half years later, this past September, after three Masters degrees and a long but ultimately successful fight for Natasha’s documentation to remain in the United States.
Our wedding ceremony was at the Grounds for Sculpture in Hamilton, NJ and the reception was at Rat’s Restaurant on the GFS which is inspired by the book The Wind in the Willows – nods to my artistic senses, Natasha’s passion for hospitality and both of our love for food. It was an absolutely beautiful night full of utter and complete joy. We worked to create a Feminist, Queer, Jewish, & South African twist on our wedding with personal touches to the whole night including using antiques from my grandparents for most the the flower vessels to the carefully selected South African wine served.

So, so pretty!
I cannot get over how gorgeous the photos look of Laure and Natasha together in those billowy gowns. Two brides clad in Vera Wang… not much is better than that.
Wow! They look soooo great together!
This is such a beautiful wedding, and i’m os glad you posted this so soon after the horrific events of the Joburg Pride Parade. This gives me hope for the inclusion of all peoples and acknowledgment of the intersectionality of oppression within the queer community! Beautiful, beautiful brides and beautiful love!
What a beautiful couple, the video is adorable – what a lovely keepsake of the love that is so evident between them. Wishing them a lifetime of happiness!
Totally gorgeous!…I had to watch the video twice cause cried the first time!. Truly beautiful!

Who put the video together? It’s amazing!
I think the same people that did the music also made the video. I just looked at their Vimeo page. Wow!
The Video was done by Hi-Society Productions, who are incredible DJ’s and videographers. They advocated for was when some passers by were saying some off color things about two brides.
That video is unbelievable! just WOW!
